What is different between sideline and competitive cheer?
Competitive cheer is a performance-focused, team-based program that emphasizes advanced stunts, tumbling, choreography, and judged competition routines—building on skills learned in sideline cheer. Sideline focuses on cheers and chants to support the teams, competitive cheer focuses on a competition routine.
What is the time commitment?
Competition season runs November-end of January.
Practices will be 1-2 nights a week and one weekend day. Practices times are based off of site and gym availability.
Athletes can expect to attend 1-2 extra competitions and finish the season by competeiting at JAMZ Nationals in Las Vegas, NV.
Who is Eligible? Are there tryouts?
To be eligible for competition teams you must have been on a sideline team.
Sideline teams will qualify for Nationals at either JAMZ Reload competition held in October or SAC league competition held in November.
After league competition we will determine how many competitive teams we will have.
Based on teams we may hold tryouts, these are typically for very specific positions.
How much is it?
Fees will be announced in November prior to team placements. Fees are based on number of gym rentals, competition fees, and other expenses. We use the same uniform as sideline season. Fees are expected to be between $500-$600 for the season.
Travel and lodging for Nationals is not included and will be additional costs.
We do competition season fundraisers to keep costs down as much as possible.
